The Women in drinks council bids a fond farewell to councillor Elizabeth Greene today, as she prepares to return to Ireland for some extended time with her family.
Elizabeth was a a founding councillor of Women in drinks when it formed in 2014.
"I loved my time on the Women in Drinks council and look forward to seeing the progress we make as an industry on the issue of gender equality in the years to come," she said.
Elizabeth has resigned from her role as Diageo Head of Communications after three and a half years. She has more than 15 years’ experience working in both agency and in-house roles, across a number of industries including consumer goods, telecommunications, professional services and technology.
At Diageo, Elizabeth was responsible for promoting and protecting the reputation of Diageo and its world leading brands; as well as developing and communicating its position on public policy issues such as alcohol taxation and liquor regulation. She was also responsible for employee engagement.
"There’s a saying at Diageo that you join for the brands but stay for the people, and for me that definitely rings true," Elizabeth said.
"I’ve been privileged to work with lots of great people during my time here, colleagues both past and present, as well as suppliers, industry partners and journalists, many of who I now consider friends.
"I leave Diageo with a lot more knowledge about the drinks industry, spirits and alcohol regulation than I ever thought possible and a few insights about myself that will no doubt stand me in good stead for whatever job or career opportunity comes next."
