Joining Mamasita down in Melbourne, GoGo Bar is our sixth feature bar also currently taking part in Tequila Herradura’s 12-week incentive program. Our sixth feature venue, GoGo Bar headlines the program’s half way point, with only six weeks to go before the program ends; when these bars will have had to reached their individual targets for a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to the original Tequila Casa Hacienda in Mexico.

Unique to most, GoGo Bar is a cocktail bar with an Eastern influence – think a drop of South East Asia into your classic cocktail and also onto your plate, with food at GoGo Bar supplied directly from the renowned Chin Chin kitchen.

GoGo Bar is also famous for its fun and memorable entertainment – with an ever-changing local art program featuring the works of emerging and established Melbourne artists. GoGo Bar is also dedicated to supporting local produce, with some of the region’s best spirits, beers and wine all available at the bar.

Importantly, GoGo Bar is also a “go” to venue for agave spirits, offering customers an original infused agave program. GoGo Bar is hoping that the program will also help to encourage its customers to try an extra drop of Herradura Tequila over the next few weeks for a chance to win a seat on the trip to Mexico in July.

In order to win, GoGo Bar must meet their individual target, set at the beginning of the program, while the venue could also be in with a chance to win a second ticket, as well as the actual oak barrel that was used in the secondary ageing process of the Double Barrel Reposado Tequila if they exceed their target above the other participating venues. All proceeds raised from the program are being invested back into hosting the group in Mexico in July.

Adding to its selection of agave tequilas, GoGo Bar will also be receiving its exclusive batch of the Australian Casa Select – 240 bottles of a unique Herradura “Double Barrel” Reposado Tequila, which the venue purchased with 11 others in Sydney earlier in April. The Australian Casa Select represents a one of its kind opportunity that was given to the 12 select bars to purchase and select their own barrel of Tequila Herradura. Such an opportunity is often only affordable to venues with a high volume turnover, but this year, Tequila Herradura decided to collaborate with these bars and offer a rare and new experience.

Owned by The Lucas Group, drinks bulletin spoke with Group Bar Manager Joe Williams to find what GoGo Bar has planned for when the Australian Casa Select arrives in Australia later this year and what it means to be one of very few to select and purchase their own barrel of Herradura “Double Barrel” Reposado Tequila.

drinks bulletin: What does it mean to you to be one of very few bars to be able to select and purchase your own unique barrel of Herradura “Double Barrel” Reposado tequila?

Joe Williams: We love to offer people the chance to try something unique and having the opportunity to be involved in the Casa Select program is a real honour. We all love Herradura and having a product that has been hand selected by ourselves and such a great line up of other venues is a great way to pass the love on to our guests.

DB: What is it about the Herradura brand and or history that resonates with you?

JW: I think that Herradura really displays the true essence of Mexico and a dedication to quality that goes from the earth to the glass.

DB: How will you be introducing your customers to Herradura over the next 12 weeks?

JW: We are showcasing our infused agave program, which combines the Herradura range with South East Asian ingredients such as kaffir lime leaves, black pepper and galangal in a Tommy’s Margarita. We also have tasting flights of the range matched with our house made Sriracha Sangrita.

DB: How will you be serving the ‘Australian Casa Select’ – Barrel 787 at GoGo Bar when it arrives?

JW: We have a few ideas up our sleeve, but we will be keeping it simple. The product is already great so we don’t want to mess with it too much. There will no doubt be some exotic ingredients entering the mix though.
