A new $10 million careers and training platform targeting three industries including hospitality has been unveiled by Australia's Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell and Accommodation Australia.

A first of its kind in Australia, eeger will be entirely funded by Austrade and developed and managed by Accommodation Australia. Once launched in March, the platform will function as a central hub for education, training and career development for Australia’s travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors.

“This one stop shop will help tourism and hospitality workers grow their skill sets to continue to build their careers and help businesses find the employees they need,” said Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell.

“The Albanese Labor Government is proud to partner with Accommodation Australia to deliver on our commitment to the tourism and hospitality industry to make it easier for Australian businesses to find staff and provide greater opportunities for workers.”

Once operational, the new platform will give employers access to a platform to advertise job vacancies to a motivated, industry-focused audience; workforce development tools to attract and retain talent; and free job postings for the first 12 months.

Additionally, it will offer industry a centralised resource hub to support collaboration among businesses, educators and service providers; and insights and tools to promote career opportunities and foster a skilled workforce.

James Goodwin, CEO of Accommodation Australia, believes now “is the right time for this project,” with the three industries collectively projected to grow 6% in the next five years and 12% in the next 10 years.

“[The] estimated 55,000 new roles to be filled in the next five years [makes] Tourism, Hospitality, and Travel among the top five industries for projected employment growth,” continued Goodwin.

“The industry-led platform aims to inspire and empower job seekers, support employers, and strengthen the visitor economy workforce at every stage of their journey.”

Soft-launched last week ahead of its rollout in March 2025, eeger is now accepting early sign-ups for both employers and job-seekers. In addition to Austrade and Accommodation Australia, the platform was created in collaboration with a number of industry bodies including ClubsNSW and the AHA.

"It’s a privilege for Accommodation Australia to lead this program in partnership with the Australian Government and on behalf of industry,” said David Mansfield, Chair of Accommodation Australia.

“Together we’re shaping a sustainable and thriving future for the visitor economy.”
