Australian on-premise venues have six days left to register their wine lists for Australia’s Wine List of the Year awards before the competition closes to entries next Monday 13 May.
The competition, which is the leading awards specifically recognising the art of crafting and maintaining strong wine lists and cellar programs in Australia, is returning to 2024 for the 31st time.
“We’re delighted to be opening up entries for our 31st year of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards,” said Founder Rob Hirst.
“The calibre of entries has continued to grow each year, and we are looking forward to wonderful results again in 2024.”
Each year, Australia’s Wine List of the Year awards brings a judging panel of 30 wine industry professionals from both Australia and from around the world to evaluate the submitted lists based on content, balance, venue suitability, presentation, and pricing. Every list gets judged by the panel twice.
“The benefits for venues to take part in this competition can be invaluable in driving awareness and customers to your venue while also giving you tools to promote the hard work that goes into developing your beverage lists and cellars,” said Hirst.
The Awards caters to venues of all scales and styles, paying recognition to the strongest wine lists by state, by venue type, by wine list size, by food pairing, and by wine category. Also Included in Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards is an additional Wine List Service Award category for those wishing to be judged on the execution of their lists. A complete list of awards is available here.
All award winners will be featured in the October edition of QANTAS Magazine Travel Insider and in Drinks Trade’s Summer Edition in December. In addition, all Glass Award winners will be featured on the Australian Wine List of the Year Awards website for a 12 month period.
“The Drinks Association is delighted to continue our support for this celebration of excellence: These awards play a pivotal role in acknowledging the dedication and expertise required to curate exceptional beverage lists,” said Georgia Lennon, CEO of the Drinks Association.
“We are proud to champion an event that consistently elevates standards and showcases outstanding talent within the Australian wine and beverage industry."
Successful entrants will also benefit from extensive publicity and promotion through both the event’s media partners and through a tailored national, state, and regional media campaign. Winners will also receive a Glass Rating from judges to promote alongside their Glass Award Certificate and Glass Award Seal.
All entrants, whether successful or not, will receive extensive and valuable confidential feedback from the panel to assist in improving their wine lists.
The entry process, made via this link, takes less than 20 minutes to complete. Interested applicants need only submit their personal details, a PDF of their wine and beverage list, their menu, and a venue image.
