The Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Co, the first all-female Irish whiskey company in the world, has launched its first product - J.J. Corry The Gael.

Chapel Gate was founded two years ago by former Diageo Reserve Brands Group executive: Louise McGuane, who oversaw the launch of the first World Class in 2009. Under her supervision, it went on to become one of the world's biggest bartender competitions.

Now, McGuane has gone on to make some delicious Irish Whisky on the McGuane family farm in Cooraclare, County Clare.

“Bonding Irish whiskey was a lost art and business model which we have brought back to life,” founder McGuane told The Spirits Business. "We are the first whiskey bonder in Ireland in 50 years and are proud to have brought this way of making Irish whiskey back.”

The practice of Irish whiskey bonding involves sourcing whiskey from third party distilleries, maturing it onsite for a period of time and then finishing or blending liquids together.

Now that McGuane has revitalised the category, the debut product, J.J. Corry The Gael is an innovative and interesting fusion blend of 5% 26-year-old single malt, 27.5% 11-year-old single malt, 27.5% 15-year-old single malt and 40% is seven-year-old single grain whiskey.

Described as having “fruit forward flavours”, the whiskey is bottled at 46% abv, and available online in 500ml (£60) and 750ml (£80).
