Beneath Driver Lane in Melbourne’s CBD will undergo an exclusive bar takeover welcoming multi-award-winning WA distillery, Republic of Fremantle, and its award-winning spirits to the east coast.

A renowned destination for boutique spirit, Beneath Driver Lane is famous for supporting small, independent producers. With 500+ bottles behind the bar, it’s a venue that celebrates the breadth of craft spirits available in Australia.

Republic of Fremantle spirit is crafted from Verdelho grapes harvested from 100-year-old vines in the Swan Valley. It is one of only a few white spirits distilleries in Australia producing base spirits from wine.

Head Distiller Tom Hutchings works closely with Swan Valley winemakers throughout vintage and monitors the fermentation process to ensure terroir character is carried from grape to glass.

The distillery recently had great success at the 2023 ADI International Spirits Competition, coming home with three awards, including Best of Class and Best of Category, for its Signature Vodka.

The Beneath Driver Lane exclusive Republic of Fremantle activation runs until 25 June. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in the world of grape-to-glass spirits and experience the Republic of Fremantle's innovative distillation technique.

Venue manager Kealan Brady developed a limited-release cocktail menu showcasing the distillery’s Signature Vodka, Aromatic Gin, and Full-Bodied Gin.

"We're excited to be working with the Republic of Fremantle on this exclusive preview of their range of spirits. The Republic of Freemantle Gins have a distinctive flavour profile, while their Signature Vodka has a really good texture and backbone," said Brady.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the Republic of Fremantle from trained bartenders who will be on hand to share insights about the distillery's history and unique production methods.
