This week, Western Australian businesses Gage Roads and Liquor Barons have unveiled their latest collaborative brew, the Shore Break West Coast Pils.

According to Head Brewer Ross Brown, Shore Break is “the perfect hoppy beer heading into a Perth Summer: lighter on the booze, crisp and refreshing with a big fresh, punchy hop hit. A touch of malt sweetness alongside a smooth, crisp bitterness and some complexity from traditional hop varieties make it unique and super smashable.

“I’ve been hanging to brew a West Coast Pilsner for a while now. I’m stoked that the Liquor Barons team were keen to run with it this year for the collab.”

Described by the brewery as being a fresh spin on a classic style, the new beer champions a four-hop blend of Citra Cryo, Simcoe Cryo, Saphir, and Mount Hood on top of Pilsner and Pale malts and an IBU of 30.

“Shore Break West Coast Pils blends the best of the beer world - the crisp crushability of Pilsner and the expressive hop intensity of a West Coast IPA,” said Brown.

“Pilsner malt and old school hops Saphir and Mt. Hood give us a light, crispy and refined platform for juicy tangerine, ripe mango, stone fruit and pine aromas to shine from a hefty dose of Citra and Simcoe. As the sun comes out, it delivers the perfect balance of refreshment with a big, fresh punchy hit of hops.”

The Shore Break West Coast Pils limited edition release is canned at 4.5% and is available now from all Liquor Barons stores at $20 per 6-pack or $65 per case of 24. It will also be made available on tap at select WA venues including WA Freo.

Liquor Barons’ Merchandise and Promotions Manager Melissa Teale said, “as a local West Australian liquor co-op, we are proud and excited to partner with local brewers, Gage Roads, to develop this summer brew.

“This easy-drinking, hoppy, refreshing West Coast Pils will be on shelves for a limited time only, so you’ll have to get in quick.”
