The Gordon Ramsay Italian Collection is the renowned chef’s first wine collection and Australia its first launch destination outside the UK.
Released to the UK in November 2021, the trio of wines was created in collaboration with Alberto Antonini, a celebrated winemaker and international wine consultant, and includes three blends: a Rosso, Bianco and Rosato.
Inspired by happy memories of Italy, Ramsay’s collection features grapes from two regions - Abruzzo and Tuscany. He said the same exacting standards he expects in his kitchen were applied to the creation of his eponymous wine collection.
“Wine making has always fascinated me; it’s a magical process where tradition, passion, and science are blended together and captured in one stunning bottle.
“When it came to launching my own wine range, it was very important to set the same standards and quality as I expect in my restaurants,” he said.
Having won a total of four awards, including Drinks Business Gold and a bronze at the Decanter World Wine Awards, bringing the collection to Australia was a natural choice, said Ramsay, who is in the country to film Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars, which will air on Channel Nine later this year.
“Just like Italy has a special place in my heart; I have spent some incredibly happy times in Australia and many of those moments were made even better by a beautiful glass of wine, so it was only natural I chose to bring my collection here,” he said.
Local wine merchants, Oatley Fine Wines, are the Australian distributors. Rob Hassan, Sales and Marketing Director at Oatley Fine Wines, said they’re excited to bring the collection to Australian wine lovers.
“We feel very excited to have such an esteemed global chef as Gordon Ramsay joining our portfolio with his new selection of wines.
“We look forward to sharing the range with wine lovers around the country and developing a wonderful reputation for this collection that captures the heart and soul of Italian winemaking,” he said.
While in Australia, Ramsay will partner with iconic harbourside restaurant Aria on an exclusive pop-up from May 8-10. The menu will feature seasonal local ingredients paired with the newly launched wine collection.
The range is now available at selected Bottle Mart, Liquor Legends and Local Liquor stores for $19.99.
