Grant Burge Wines has released the newest vintage of its acclaimed Old Vine Filsell Shiraz.

The 2014 Old Vine Filsell is made from near century-old vines on the Grant Burge Filsell vineyard and embodies all the characteristics of a bold and voluptuous Barossa shiraz.

“The Filsell Old Vine Shiraz is a true icon of the Barossa, and the 2014 vintage is an exceptional addition to a proud and illustrious lineage of wines,” Winemaker, Craig Stansborough said.

Several batches of premium fruit were carefully selected and then crushed and fermented separately. Primary fermentation on skins occurred over approximately eight days, with a couple of small batches undergoing natural yeast fermentation in small open fermenters for a further week.

The palate, while unashamedly rich and powerful, has length and structure imparted by a foundation of ripe, supple tannins that carry the wine through to a long, lingering finish.

“A classic Barossan style of shiraz – rich and powerful, but with an element of elegance and grace brought about by fine, velvety tannins. While drinking well now, this wine is perfectly structured for cellaring into the next decade and beyond,” Stansborough added.
