A number of new multi-regional blends have been added to Hardys’ Heritage Reserve Bin (HRB) range.
Wines in the range aim to showcase the result of combined fruit from across Australia, a method first coined by young Thomas Hardy in 1865, when he blended a parcel from the Adelaide Plains with another from the Southern Districts.
Today, the family believes this winemaking philosophy produces some of its best wines, with each wine in the Reserve Bin range receiving a unique Bin Number to protect the blend from being repeated in future releases.
Produced by Hardys Chief Winemaker Paul Lapsley, the new additions have been made from fruit from the Clare Valley, Tasmania, Adelaide Hills, Margaret River, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Frankland River.
2014 Hardys HRB D659 Riesling
Clare Valley and Tasmania. Fine lemon and mineral characteristics combine with intense fruit flavours creating a balanced wine that expresses lifted citrus fruit tones.
2014 Hardys HRB D658 Pinot Gris
Adelaide Hills and Tasmania. Vibrant aromas of apple blossom, pear and lime meld into delicate Pink Lady apple and Nashi pear flavours.
2014 Hardys HRB D660 Chardonnay
Margaret River and Adelaide Hills. Intense aromas of citrus rind and stonefruit with flavours of melon, lemon and barrel fermented creaminess.
2013 Hardys HRB D654 Shiraz
McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and Frankland River. A dry, full-bodied shiraz with a rich bouquet of cassis, chocolate, pepper and mint with a touch of vanillin spice.
2013 Hardys HRB D645 Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River, Coonawarra and Frankland River. Lifted aromas of cassis, mint and bay leaf with flavours of blackcurrant and chocolate and fine silky tannins.
