Margaret River's Howard Park Wines NV Jeté Brut Blanc has won Best Australian Sparkling Wine at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2017 (CSWWC).

The CSWWC is the most respected, comprehensive and rigorous international sparkling wine competition in the world, judged exclusively by experts Tom Stevenson, Essi Avellan MW and Dr Tony Jordan.

The award ceremony, held at London’s Vintner Hall, was attended by chief wine maker Janice McDonald (pictured, main) who said: “By global standards, our venture is fledgling. Our challenge is always to make sparkling from this very special place in the Great Southern that could come close in quality to Champagne, while showcasing our individual site and style.

“There is some tough competition in the Australian Sparkling space so it really is an honour to have won the trophy tonight, and as a Western Australian winery, not famed for their sparkling, it is a fantastic achievement."

Dom Pérignon 1998 P2 in Magnum was named Supreme World Champion and Best French Sparkling Wine, while Trentodoc producer Ferrari Lunelli crowned as Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year 2017.
