Ironbark Distillery is in the running to be named World’s Best Gin at the World Drink Awards, to be held on March 30, 2017.

The small family-run distillery located in Sydney’s western suburbs was recently awarded Australia’s Best Traditional Gin for its 313 Dry Gin at the World Gin Awards held on December 18, 2016. To win the global title, Ironbark Distillery must now be judged against its international competitors from Canada, Germany, the UK and USA.

Master Alchemist and Ironbark Distillery Director Reg Papps said, “We’re excited and a little overwhelmed by the award win and the opportunity to be named both the world’s best traditional gin, and potentially, the world’s best gin.

“Even to be in consideration for such an accolade is more than we could ever have imagined when we took the plunge to put everything on the line and follow our dream to open the distillery. It just reinforces for us that you should never to be scared to try something new, no matter what stage of life you’re at."

The potential title will build on the distillery’s rapidly growing reputation as an award-winning gin, having received previous accolades including Australian Gin Distillery of the Year at the 2015 Melbourne International Spirit Awards, the distillery’s first year of trade.

Papps will now travel to London in March for the awards ceremony.
