Partner of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup that kicks off in October, Jacob’s Creek welcomed the Trophy with cricket legend, Michael Clarke, for a morning of activity and the unveiling of a pop-up cricket installation that is taking over the Cellar Door grounds in the Barossa Valley until the T20 finals in November.

Hosted by ICC Champion Bharat Sundaresan, Jacob’s Creek winemaker, Dan Swincer and Michael Clarke took to the stand on Sunday morning.

“As an ex-Australian cricketer and fan of the game I think we have got a good enough team to win this world cup,” said Michael Clarke of the T20 World Cup.

“I know what the 50-over (Trophy) feels like, and now I know what the Twenty-20 one feels like”, said Clarke who never got to hold the Twenty-20 Trophy in his career.

Inspired by the Jacob’s Creek vines, the cricket installation is a fun pitch created partly from Jacob’s Creek barrels and old vines. An artistic first from the Barossa locals behind production company Release Creative, the installation is open to visitors to enjoy a hit on until the end of November.

“Jacob’s Creek are an awesome sponsor. They’ve been around and involved in sport for a long period of time and the ICC have wonderful partnerships with brands like Jacob’s Creek”, said Clarke.

Calling stumps on beer; Jacob’s Creek showed eventgoers how wine can just as easily fit into the cricket occasion with a wine bar pouring up a selection of Mimosas and Jacob’s Creek wines to toast the trophy tour.

Jacob’s Creek is a proud partner of the ICC, holding exclusive pouring rights in stadium bars throughout the T20 World Cup.

This year marks 175 years since the vines were first planted at Jacob’s Creek, with September marking 20 years since the Cellar Door started welcoming visitors.
