Johnnie Walker has launched a 'Year of the Rat' Limited Edition Blue Label bottle to celebrate Lunar New Year 2020.

This year, the first day of the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or the Lunar Near Year, falls on Saturday, January 25.

In honour of Chinese New Year, the Limited Edition bottle captures the essence of the 'Year of the Rat', with the box featuring an intricate papercut of the Rat while the side of the bottle itself shows the creature perched on golden ingots and red lanterns hanging from traditional cherry blossom trees.

The illustration is meant to capture the wit and intelligence of the creature, heralding the opportunity and good fortune that the rat’s arrival signifies.

This striking Limited Edition looks set to become a collector’s item, with limited bottles available in Australia.

Melissa Maidment, Marketing Manager – Whisk(e)y said: “It is an exciting time for Johnnie Walker; there is no denying the potential of the luxury Scotch whisky category and this latest launch of the stunning Limited Edition ‘Year of the Rat’ bottle is yet another example of our firm belief in this brand as an ultimate luxury gift and unique expression of gratitude."

Available to purchase from major liquor retailers including Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores nationwide, RRP $259.99 for a 750ml bottle (40% ABV).
