Australia's most awarded bartender and the 2012 World Class winner, Tim Philips-Johansson has joined Diageo as new Global Brand Ambassador for Johnnie Walker.
Mr Philips-Johansson will be responsible for shaping the future of the brand’s experiences and education, exciting and inspiring consumers and customers around the myriad of ways there are to enjoy Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky.
With over twenty years of experience in the global drinks industry and given his creative flare, curious nature, knowledge and passion for people and mentorship, Diageo believes he is well-positioned to step into this industry-leading position and help deliver the brand’s trade advocacy strategy.
Commenting on the appointment, Johnnie Walker Global Brand Director Julie Bramham said, “This is a really exciting time for Johnnie Walker, and to have Tim join us on this journey is a pleasure. He is one of the most revered and respected talents in our industry – and already a true advocate for Johnnie Walker."
Originally from Melbourne, Mr Philips-Johansson is the founder of Sydney's Bulletin Place - four-time winner of the Australian cocktail bar of the year which has also featured five-times in the World's 50 Best Bars list. He also founded Sydney's Dead Ringer and honed his craft working in multiple cities and the best bars around the world including Black Pearl (Melbourne), Milk & Honey (London and New York), and The Clubhouse (France).
Mr Philips-Johansson said, “No one makes Scotch like Johnnie Walker. It’s a whisky I’ve always had an affinity for – built on 200 years of progressive thinking and with incredible ambitions for the future like the recently announced Johnnie Walker Next Steps initiative, upcoming opening of the new brand home, Johnnie Walker Princes Street, and much more.
“As we step into the next 200 years, I’m looking forward to finding ways to connect with trade and consumers from the four corners of Scotland, to the four corners of the world.”
Diageo said, "In April, Johnnie Walker confirmed its commitment towards being not only the best whisky in the world, but the best whisky for the world. This appointment strengthens that ambition and will play a critical role in inspiring customers and consumers to walk with us."
