As the doors to the hospitality sector start to reopen, Joval Wine Group is launching a website filled with initiatives geared to support restaurants with resources and cash injections.

Curated by leading sommelier Matt Dunne (above), restaurantrevival.com.au is a resource-packed portal that provides restaurants the tools they need to reopen under ever-changing restrictions and a vastly different workforce.

The resources include:

•            ready-to-print wine lists

•            costing spreadsheets

•            wine school – training for new staff

•            fact sheets on maximising consumer appeal and profitability

•            information on wine-consumption trends

•            compliance guidelines by state

•            additional financial support guide

•            bookable sessions with inhouse, WSET-trained experts

“We’re finding restaurants are opening and the landscape has changed dramatically," said Dunne, former Solotel Group Sommelier and now Joval Wine Group Resident Sommelier.

"Operators are writing smaller, more dynamic lists and are keeping a close eye on profitability,

“While operators might have had staff to help them in the past, now we’re seeing restaurateurs doing the job of two or three staff at once. This website, and the wines we represent make it easy.”

In addition, the Restaurant Revival Wine Store offers access to sommelier-curated wine packs.

For every pack sold, JWG will donate its margin in the form of a tip to a nominated Australian licensed restaurant.

Joval Wine Group General Manager Gary Crawford said: “Restaurants have done a great job in adapting to the crisis, including selling takeaway, but they have desperately missed the revenue that comes with wine sales. To help them out, we are sacrificing our margin and providing it as a tip through our Restaurant Revival Wine Store. It is a step on the road back to profitability.

“Our team has worked around the clock since the lockdown announcement in late March developing initiatives and programs to help with the reopening of the hospitality sector.  Our customers have their hands full dealing with so many challenges and the unknown, so we are proud to launch an initiative that helps them financially.”
