This year's limited-edition Krondorf release features four wines from the highly anticipated 2021 vintage and one special inclusion from 2019.
Nick Badrice, Head Winemaker at Krondorf Wines, said the collection exhibits qualities of the 25-year-old Barossa vineyards where it was grown, enhanced by the traditional, minimalist winemaking processes.
"I like to take a minimalistic approach to things. It's about allowing the wines to express themselves and reflect the sites on which they're grown. The focus is on sourcing and growing the best-quality fruit, which is a key part of Krondorf Wines' philosophy," he said.
The winery's new star, the King's Mantle Shiraz, has been hailed as an icon resulting from an extensive search for the finest and most expressive fruit of that vintage.
"Our preeminent wine and new icon, the Krondorf King's Mantle Shiraz 2019, is the pinnacle of our craft," said Badrice. "As a winemaker, I'm looking for fruit that brings a perfect balance of classical and contemporary Barossa excellence. We then select a single vineyard parcel of ultra-premium fruit by hand and craft it with a traditional winemaking approach where minimalism is key."
Tasting notes of the regal release note "evocative black forest fruits, plum and liquorice, earth, dark chocolate and spice aromas. The palate is luscious and velvety, a superbly concentrated mix of dark forest fruits showcasing exceptional purity and perfect balance, with fine, loose knit silky tannins creating a powerful yet beautifully persistent finish."
