Page Six Magazine and The Washington Post have both claimed that the French Blonde is Taylor’s drink of choice after the singer was seen sipping the cocktail throughout the duration of a recent girls night out in Kansas City.

"From our understanding, [that is] her favourite cocktail,” said the owner of the venue they attended, Rye Restaurant.

Despite having likely origins in Paris city 1902, the French Blonde has always remained a relative rarity on cocktail lists... at least up until now, that is.

Its recipe is as followed:

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml of Lillet Blanc
  • 60 ml freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 30 ml of dry gin
  • 15 ml of elderflower liqueur
  • A dash of lemon bitter
  • Grapefruit peel

Method:

  • Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake over ice.
  • Double strain into a Coupe glass and garnish with grapefruit peel.

Whilst Taylor Swift news tends to feel a little bit overdone, it is impossible to overlook the financial significance that her upcoming The Eras Tour will have on the Australian economy, with the Australian Financial Review estimating it could inject upwards of $140 million over its seven show run. For perspective, that’s more than the net worth of the entire Australian cricket season combined.

It also presents an unparalleled marketing opportunity for drinks brands that are able to appeal to her fan base.

One such brand that has succeeded in capitalising on the opportunity is Smirnoff, who recently released a limited edition RTD flavour inspired by one of Taylor’s songs

Taylor Swift will be in Australia from the 16th to the 25th of February, during which all on-premise venues have been recommended to keep plenty of Lillet Blanc and St. Germain on hand.
