Mandatory Spirit Co. and global food and beverage packaging giant Tetra Pak have united to create Australia’s first premium cocktails served in aseptic carton packaging.

Produced in Victoria, the sugar-free, gluten-free, and vegan 1L Tetra Pak premixed cocktails are a first in Australia, offering consumers long-lasting drinks housed in aseptic carton packages that last up to 18 months unrefrigerated without the need for preservatives.

Mark Collins, Co-Founder of Mandatory Spirit Co., said he’s excited to announce the new 1L Tetra Pak cocktails, which will give consumers the freedom to enjoy RTDs more sustainably.

“By creating these products in a carton, Aussies can have a bit of fun drinking their favourite cocktails while purchasing and disposing of the packaging in a far more sustainable way. They’re also perfect to take to picnics or parties whilst also not having to worry about the weight or safety associated with carrying around a glass bottle,” he said.

Jaymie Pagdato, Marketing Director at Tetra Pak, said collaborating with a like-minded Australian company like Mandatory Spirit Co. will help promote innovative, sustainable packaging options.

“Tetra Pak is always looking for like-minded brands with shared goals and visions when it comes to bringing exciting product innovations into the market, as well as advancing the circular economy in Australia. We are thrilled to partner with a local brand like Mandatory Spirit Co. in bringing a new product into the Australian beverage industry with our innovative and sustainable packaging,” said Pagdato.

According to Thinkstep’s LCA of Beverage and Food Packaging in Australia and New Zealand report released in 2021, 1L cartons have up to five times less impact on climate change than glass across their entire lifecycle.

Mandatory Spirit Co. cocktails are available at First Choice retailers nationwide, with new flavours launching later this year.
