Matthews Hospitality has finalised the purchase of The Bentleys Hotel, an iconic country pub in the heart of the Clare Valley with plans are underway to improve the accommodation offering and function packages.
Matthews Hospitality now employs around 350 people across its venues, including the Eyre Hotel in Whyalla, the Mt Gambier, Park and South Eastern Hotels and the Colhurst House B&B in the south east. In metropolitan Adelaide, its venues include the Salisbury Hotel, Feathers, Maylands and Buckingham Arms.
Matthews Hospitality CEO Andrew Kemp said acquiring The Bentleys Hotel was a demonstration of the family hotel group’s commitment to helping build regional South Australia.
“We look forward to bringing our customer-first hospitality approach to the beautiful Clare Valley,” said Mr Kemp.
“We want to maintain everything the locals enjoy about The Bentleys Hotel while enhancing its accommodation, function packages and strengthening links to local tourism.
“With state and international borders now open we are pleased to be part of driving the visitor economy in the regions through showcasing local produce and tourism experiences.”
The Matthews family is now on a recruitment drive for a Venue Manager as well as more bar and restaurant staff.
“We are looking for a natural-born leader for this exciting new role,” said Matthews Hospitality Manager of People and Culture Katy Sargent.
“Matthews Hospitality is passionate about creating local jobs but this may also be a great opportunity for a hospitality professional to make a vine change.”
