McWilliam’s and Casella Family Brands today announced the sale and purchase respectively of the Brand’s of Coonawarra winery and assets.

The financial terms of the sale are commercial in confidence and include the purchase of the Brand’s winery, cellar door and brand IP.

Commenting on the sale, McWilliam’s Wines CEO, Rob Blackwell said: “The sale of Brand’s was a very difficult decision to make but is consistent with our objective of focusing resources on growing our core stable of brands namely McWilliam’s, Evans & Tate and Mount Pleasant. Under these labels, we will increase our marketing investments and continue to introduce new products in both Australia and international markets. We are pleased that Casella has acquired the brand and will continue to build on the investment made by McWilliam’s.”

Commenting on the acquisition, CFB Managing Director, John Casella said: ”We are very excited to introduce Brand’s of Coonawarra to the CFB family. The acquisition complements our premium range of wines, extending our portfolio to include a reputable brand that represents the regional excellence of the Coonawarra. I believe we are well positioned to build on the investment made by McWilliam’s Wines, in particular showcasing the excellent Cabernet Sauvignon wines for which the region and brand are famous.”
