Modus Operandi Brewing is launching a new non-alcoholic beer called NORT.

The 100% crafted ale will be sold nationally in Dan Murphys, BWS and leading independent bottle-shops and grocers.

Modus Operandi, based on Sydney's northern beaches, was established in 2014 by husband and wife team Grant and Jaz Wearin.

"The non alcoholic space has interested me for some time after being pregnant, raising little people and working pretty hard on our dream of running a family owned brewery," explained Jaz.

"Basically I love beer - who doesn’t - but I have found I need balance. Cue NORT."

Sales data from Endeavour Group shows sales of non-alcoholic drinks have more than doubled in the last year at two major retailers, with non-alcoholic beer the fastest growing segment.

"The younger generation are seeking out non-alcoholic options more than any generation before, my mates balance serious craft beer with non-alcoholic beers at a BBQ's so they can drive home or back up a big day of work the next without missing out.

"We have all witnessed the rapid growth of the health and wellbeing space in the last few years as people look for alternatives. The demand for non-alcoholic beer is varied, but the desire for a non alcoholic beer to be flavourful is universal."

Newcastle brewery for Modus Operandi

Modus Operandi Brewing was given the green light in August to open a brewery and brewpub in Newcastle.

The Merewether venue will have a capacity of 300.

"This site is magical," Jaz told The Crafty Pint. "Enough space for a serious production facility, a beautiful north facing aspect so you can drink a fresh beer in the sun, great bones that give the site some real authenticity and a flat stroll from the sparkling beaches of Newcastle and some awesome neighbourhood pubs."
