The story starts in Panama, Central America, where 5th generation coffee farmer, Roberto Brenes, grows his legendary Camilina Geisha beans.
Campos Specialty Roasters, the official coffee supplier for Mr Black, secured 100kg of the First Prize(2016 'Best of Panama' competition) beans, with 50kg of those reserved especially for Mr Black's Panama Geisha Coffee Liqueur.
Campos Director, Will Young, said it is one of the best coffees he has ever tasted.
"When I tasted it, I recall tasting everything in this coffee. It just sparkled with colours and flavours that covered the spectrum of what you could dream of for a premium coffee. We had one taste of this and signed ourselves up for as much as we could afford."
On the Central Coast of New South Wales, Head Distiller and co-founder, Philip Moore, infused the Geisha coffee beans following the same crafted process used to develop Mr Black coffee liqueur.
The expression has flavours of apricot, honeycomb, toffee, caramel and treacle, which dance around the palate with acidity that develops into a zingy sherbet.
Only 300 bottles of the exquisite, limited edition Mr Black Panama Geisha Coffee Liqueur were made. 289 are available via ballot for RRP$185 on the Mr Black website for the rest of this month. Successful applicants will be notified on August 12.
The remaining bottles are currently on display at Rockpool Group bars nationwide and available for purchase by the nip.
