Melbourne’s Naught Distilling has entered into the premium mixer category with the launch of Sidekick. To begin with, four varieties have been announced - Sublime Tonic, Cheeky Tonic, Lively Tonic and Ginger Beer - with each featuring all natural and ethically sourced ingredients that are designed to harmonise with their spirit pairings.
Given Naught’s diverse portfolio of wine-infused, barrel aged, overproof, and classic dry gins, it is unsurprising to see three tonic options taiolored to different gins and occasions.
“Coming from a background in both distilling and mixology, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what makes the perfect mixer, and what a lot of tonics get wrong is the flavours overtake the drink and don’t allow the spirit to shine through,” said Chris Cameron, Founder and Distiller.
“Knowing this, we designed Sidekick to be the ultimate wingman. Both delicious on its own, but also as the perfect complement to other ingredients without being overpowering or distracting.”
Sidekick Tonic is available for purchase at select retailers in Victoria and nationally via Boozebud at $12 per 4-pack and $66 per case.
Sidekick describes its four debut releases as follows:
Sublime Tonic
Described as “just right”, Sublime tastes perfectly balanced with notes of citrus and delicate quinine, offering subtle orange aromas. This mixer is designed to accompany your favourite quality dry gin for the ultimate G&T.
Cheeky Tonic
So good that it can stand alone but chooses to step away from the limelight. Cheeky is bursting with sweet ruby grapefruit and rich blood orange notes, promising citrus sweetness and refreshing fizz. Deliciously versatile, Cheeky is the only choice for bright, full flavoured fun.
Lively Tonic
Lively promises to deliver on its name. With bright and effervescent citrus and cane sugar harmonised to perfection with the subtle bitterness of quinine to finish and orange aromas, Lively will give any drink a bold and brilliant boost.
Ginger Beer
Ginger Beer is who you call when you want to kick it up a notch. Paired with your favourite whisky, the gentle ginger heat and cane sugar sweetness promises a mouthwatering party for the palate that you won't want to end.
