New Distillery Opens in Sydney’s Northern Beaches

A new distillery has landed on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Manly Spirits Co. is an all-new producer of premium Australian spirits and has already picked up medals at the recent San Francisco World Spirits Competition and Australian Distilled Spirits Awards.

The distillery’s focus is on creating quality spirits that showcase the finest Australian produce including superior malts and sustainably sourced native and foraged marine botanicals.

Available nationwide, the range includes the Manly Spirits Australian Dry Gin ($80), Manly Spirits Marine Botanical Vodka ($75), Manly Spirits Terra Firma Botanical Vodka ($75) and North Fort White Dog Malt Spirit ($85).

Each product is distilled, bottled and labelled by hand at the distillery, which is also laying down casks of its single malt whisky range, North Fort, and limited release Australian whiskies. These are matured and finished in a range of traditional ex-bourbon, ex-fortified wine French oak and ex-Australian wine casks, and will be available from 2019.

Manly Spirits Co.’s Botanical Vodkas showcase progressive Australian ingredients such as sea parsley, beach-cast kelp and wattle seed to deliver a distinctive flavour unlike other white spirits.

The Australian Dry Gin is an alternative style that features ten botanicals including orange peel, sea lettuce, finger lime, anise myrtle and mountain pepper leaf. It’s bright and fresh with citrus and peppery notes and recommended in a gin and tonic with a slice of orange.

Manly Spirits Co. has also brought on the help of Head Distiller, Tim Stones, formally of Beefeater Gin and Chivas Brothers Limited.

Jones added, “The Manly Spirits Co. team are continually exploring the Australian botanical pantry and are drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings of Manly’s famed marine sanctuary. Our signature whiskies, gins and botanicals vodkas will be complemented by a rotating seasonal small-batch collection, The Distillery Expressions, that will be available exclusively at the Distillery Tasting Bar for industry and visitors to try.”

The Manly Spirits Co. Distillery is also open to visitors for distillery tours and tastings.
