besser-alanadimou-hires-063Eugenio Maiale, Ennio Di Marcos, Sandro di Marino and Luke Randall are the owners of Surry Hills’ new Italian bar and eatery, Besser. 

Also the team behind A Tavola in Darlinghurst and Bondi; Eugenio, Ennio, Sandro and Luke have made sure that Besser, like their other two ventures, pays homage to their Italian routes.

What they describe as “Italiano informale”, Besser offers consumers a relaxed Italian dining experience, which aims to make diners feel “right at home”.

The bar menu offers a list of eight boutique Italian and Australian wines on tap, hand selected by Ennio, who will be refreshing the range regularly, as well as wine list of 50 bottled wines.

Besser is also serving up a range of classic aperitivos, as well as house cocktails, including the Besser Sour, Breakfast Martini, Sicilian Julep and Besser Aged Negroni.

The kitchen menu is being headed up by Head Chef, Sandro who has moved over from A Tavola, Darlinghurst. The kitchen is open for lunch and dinner Thursday to Sunday, serving small plates of ‘singles’ for snacking and ‘6pm Rissotto’ – served once a night, only at that time.

Other menu highlights include Braised Chicken Hearts with Tomato and Rosemary; Roasted Carrots, Almonds, Kale, Honey and Ricotta Salata; Venison Tartare; and Gnocchi with Oxtail and Red Wine Ragu inspired by the team’s Italian heritage.
