"The current board is made up of a team of smart, engaged people who collectively want to give back to the region, ensure our members have the support they need to thrive and that Adelaide Hills wines continue to grow in renown, locally and across the world.”

Mr Trescowthick has been a member of the Adelaide Hills Executive Committee since 2014 and has held a position as Chair of the Grape and Environment sub-committee. He has a degree in winemaking, over 15 years’ experience in winemaking and marketing in South Australia and has worked multiple vintages in Europe, the USA, and domestically, New South Wales and Western Australia.

He is currently Winery Operations Manager and Chief Winemaker of RedHeads which makes small batch wines with a focus on sustainability. The winery was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award for small to medium sized wineries at the 2021 South Australian Wine Industry Awards for its state-of-the-art water management system.

Reducing waste water and water recycling are key focus areas RedHeads has worked towards, capturing all of the water from its winery roof and dam, collecting 2.7 million litres of extra water that can be reused around the winery and site, while the dam, with a storage capacity of 3.8 megalitres is used to supply water for irrigation.

“Building the new winery from scratch gave us the opportunity to focus on accommodating premium winemaking as well as reducing its carbon footprint, waste, and environmental impact. We hope we can inspire other wineries and industries to improve how they manage their waste and energy requirements,” said Mr Trescowthick.
