Jance Distillery has unveiled its debut whisky release, the Double Oak Australian Blended Whisky. Crafted to be approachable and easily enjoyable by all, the new release has been aged in ex-bourbon barrels, resulting in subtle coconut hints, crisp orchard fruits and flowers, and a distinct cereal warmth.
“It’s been over three years in the making and seeing the Double Oak Whisky come to life is an incredible milestone for us,” said Lance Mizzi, Co-Founder of Jance Distillery.
“Our aim with the Double Oak was to create a whisky that everyone can enjoy. It’s smooth, approachable, and incredibly versatile, making it perfect for any occasion. We hope it becomes a go-to favorite for whisky lovers and newcomers alike.”
Fellow Co-Founder James Mizzi added: “We’re very excited to have our first whisky out... We take pride in the whisky and what it achieves.”
Jance Double Oak is bottled at 40% and is available now at $65 per 700ml bottle.
Prior to its release, Drinks Trade asked Account Manager Joshua Saca about Jance’s approach to cracking the spirits market via different channels.
“If you're trying to sell a $150 bottle of whisky, your on-premise is never going to move,” Sacca told Drinks Trade.
“If you have something that's more accessible for a venue to applicably use (which is getting harder and harder to do) you can either do that one of two ways: either a cheaper product (you win by price point) or demand (the people want it, the people get it, and they're willing to pay a little bit more for it).”
The Jance Double Oak release follows on from previous releases by the distillery including its Honey Liqueur and one-of-a-kind Honey Spirit Range.
Drinks Trade recently had the opportunity to trial Jance’s Honey Liqueur, which retails at $45 per 700ml bottle.
The team noted an “aroma of pure honey. A notably rich, creamy and viscous profile, with a sweetness initially in contrast to the spirit base that builds and lingers. Slight dry grassy base but with a sweet honey lift on top. Real authentic honey flavour.”
Additionally, we considered it “a unique product that would be great for home bartenders that like experimenting.”
