More than 8500 people have taken up the offer from the NSW Government to complete fee free Responsible Service of Alcohol training and in response, the government has increased the offer to meet demand.

In February the government offered 5,000 courses to attract new people to the industry and help to ease staff shortages. Now it is offering another 5,000 fee-free courses available to job seekers keen to join the industry.

The courses are available through Smart and Skilled, a government-subsidised vocational education and training program. Visit the Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) website for more information and a list of training providers approved to offer the fee-free RSA courses.

The NSW Government is also encouraging former hospitality workers to return to the industry offering refresher courses, free of charge, and available until 30 June 2022. The free renewal applies to competency cards with an RSA competency, including those that also hold a Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) competency, and with an expiry date between 1 February 2020 and 30 June 2022.

Since 3 February, 4,999 RSA and 2,348 RCG refreshers have been completed free of charge under this initiative.
