De Bortoli received the award in the medium to large business category. The company was nominated for its ‘Re-engineering our Future for a Carbon Economy’ sustainability project.
The project aims to minimise waste and energy consumption and in October of last year the company completed its installation of the largest solar panel array to have been installed by an Australian wine company at the time.
De Bortoli Wines Environment, Health and Safety Manager, Lindsay Gullifer explained how significant the achievement is to the company: “Winning the Green Globe for Excellence in Sustainability is recognition of the hard work the De Bortoli team have done over the last several years.
“It is satisfying to be recognised by your peers as a leader in sustainable practices.”
This year’s Green Globe Awards received the highest number of nominations to have been received in the award’s 15 year history.
