Two of the world’s most ancient beverages have been blended together to create a new tea-infused wine product called Tea & Wine.
Carefully crafted by subtly infusing the delicate notes of organic loose-leaf tea into wine, Tea & Wine is available in two varieties, Unoaked Chardonnay infused with organic Egyptian Camomile blossoms and Cabernet Sauvignon infused with organic Sri-Lankan Chai.
The Pernod Ricard winemakers behind Tea & Wine worked to perfect the balance between the two ingredients, trialing hundreds of combinations to create a wine product with seamless complementary flavours.
Tea & Wine spokesperson Helene Herges said: “Infusion is when you carefully combine ingredients to enhance a base. In our case, the base is beautiful Australian Chardonnay and Cabernet grapes that we infuse with bespoke loose-leaf organic tea blends to lift and intensify flavour and aroma.
“We experimented with many ways of infusing the delicate notes of tea into wine and finally after years of research discovered the best method to find the perfect integration.
“In today’s world, it is easy to forget to slow down and take some time for yourself. Tea & Wine is a unique product that creates the perfect combination of two celebrated drinks, perfect for a moment to indulge in your very own ‘me time’.”
Tea supplier and Co-Founder of The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar, Corinne Smith said: “It’s exciting to finally see tea innovation in the spotlight. Now more than ever we are opting for higher quality and more unique flavours, and there is so much to explore and enjoy with this versatility of tea.”
To celebrate the launch, Tea & Wine have worked with Ovolo Hotels, to trial the new products. Until September 29, Alibi Kitchen & Bar at Ovolo Woolloomooloo will offer the “Wine Socie-Tea” high tea experience featuring delicious sweet and savoury plant-based dishes served with Tea & Wine Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The tea-infused wine is available now from selected Dan Murphy’s stores nationally at an RRP of $22.
