One of Australia’s most loved wine brands, PREECE, is making a proud return to the portfolio of Victorian winery, Mitchelton Wines.

Named after the founding winemaker at Mitchelton Wines, Colin Preece, PREECE wines first launched in the late 1980s and soon gained popularity with its modern approach to winemaking and renowned circular front label.

However, it was shelved by previous owner Lion, with no wine being produced under the label since 2011.

On hand to officially re-launch the wines - 48 years to the day the first vines were planted by Colin Preece - at Circa the Prince in Melbourne was Mitchelton managing director Andrew Ryan, Mitchelton Chief Winemake Travis Clydesdale, Mark Clydesdale (Travis’s father who was cellar manager at Mitchelton for 30 years!) and Stephen Shelmerdine whose family started the winery in 1969.

The reinvigorated range includes a 2016 Chardonnay, 2016 Shiraz and 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, with all fruit sourced from the estate in the Nagambie Lakes region in the Goulburn Valley, Central Victoria.

“These single varietal wines remain true to the original PREECE collection and are what Australian wine consumers love drinking today; high quality wines made from classic varieties that really over deliver,” says winemaker, Travis.

While the historical heartland of PREECE will always be in Nagambie, Clydesdale has plans to expand the PREECE collection into other Victorian regions as the vintage dictates. A Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, King Valley Pinot Grigio and Nagambie Grenache Rose will join the PREECE collection later in 2017/18.

The rejuvenation of the brand also includes a contemporary label design by boutique Melbourne design agency, Future Days.

Using Generative Design (GenDesign) the labels are created via an algorithm using PREECE’s wine and historical data, intricate line work and natural colour palette. No two labels are the same and breathe life back to the brand in a unique, forward-thinking manner.

PREECE Wines are available now at Ritchies outlets throughout Victoria and NSW, selected independent retail and on-premise outlets and the Mitchelton Cellar Door, all available for $RRP20.00.
