Rekorderlig Cider has released its latest TVC Silver Skaters, bringing to life its first ever global brand campaign.

The new ad sees Australia's number one cider brand take a slightly unusual, more authentic approach towards its Swedish heritage, with a scene that will certainly make you look or think twice.

Set on the Torneträsk Lake, two unlikely bearded skaters, named after Rekorderlig founders Henrik and Anders, break out into what is certainly somewhat of a synchronised-skating-spectacular - a bold move that aims to position this TVC away from traditional cider advertisements. A successful move too, as the ad has gone on to receive accolades from the Epica Awards, Campaign Big Awards, Clio Awards and Cannes Lions, and Rekorderlig is now hoping that it will be as well received in Australia.

“Swedish life is unpretentious, fun and beautiful", Rekorderlig Cider Marketing Manager Nikki Langford says. "Our new advert Silver Skaters features a pair of unconventional, but spectacularly talented ice skaters and their evangelical coach, as they create a routine that looks – and sounds - unlike any other."

“The idea was born out of the thought that there is something beautifully invigorating and refreshing about seeing someone skating on ice on a sunny day when the sky is blue. The skaters feel unusual, whilst genuine to the Swedish environment”, Langford added.

Langford said that the aim was to create a scene that demonstrated Rekorderlig's premium and Swedish nature, as well as a touch of the quirky humour Scandinavians are famous for. The TVC was created with London based advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi and took a cast of 128 to produce, with temperatures dropping to -42 degrees on set at times.

The all-star team behind the cameras included award-winning Swedish Director Andreas Nilsson, the choreography crew from hit comedy Blades of Glory, legendary stylist Mr. Gammon, creative director Adam Chiappe and Sarah Weatherburn, famed for being the creator of the wigs for the Harry Potter films.
