Act of Treason Extra Aged
Twelve months after launching Act of Treason Australian Agave Spirit, Top Shelf International has unveiled Act of Treason Extra Aged, an agave spirit that emulates the añejo tequila style.
Aged in ex-Australian whisky barrels, Extra Aged features familiar notes of cooked agave, cut grass and lime layered atop rich vanilla, caramel and oak.
According to the distillery, the tropical ageing conditions of Act of Treason's Whitsundays homeland contribute increased flavour extraction from the oak, resulting in a spirit of depth and complexity that is reflective of its unique environment.
“Everything we do is inspired by the traditions of tequila but brought to life through Australian ingenuity and unique terroir that our location offers us,” said Trent Fraser, CEO.
“Our farm is our slice of paradise and we’re relishing in the opportunity of exporting paradise to the world.”
Act of Treason Extra Aged is now available via its website at $130 per bottle.

The Macallan unveils fourth Harmony Collection release
In celebration of its 200 Year Anniversary, The Macallan has unveiled the fourth instalment of its Harmony Collection. While Guardian Oak is exclusive to global travel retail, Vibrant Oak - a whisky matured in a combination of first fill American and second fill sherry seasoned oak casks - is available to Australian liquor retailers nationwide.
In continuation of the theme of championing recycled organic materials in its packaging, this edition of the Harmony Collection repurposes oak chippings from the cask production process for its presentation boxes and bottle labels.
“Oak plays such an important role in the colour and flavour of The Macallan and bringing it to life through our packaging is incredibly inspirational,”said Diane Stuart, Whisky Maker.
“Vibrant Oak and Guardian Oak, provided an opportunity to select the casks that deliver the classic characteristics of our two key wood types, sherry seasoned American oak and sherry seasoned European oak casks, showcasing the differences these wood types deliver.”
The Harmony Collection Vibrant Oak is bottled at an abv of 44.2% and will be available in select liquor retailers nationwide from 1 February at $355 per bottle.
