Four Loko launches in Australia

Top selling US RTD brand Four Loko is launching into the Australian market this summer. To begin with, four flavour options will be made available: Blue Cocktail, Citrus Cocktail, and Strawberry Lemon Cocktail.

“Four Loko has consistently been a top seller in the United States, and we are anticipating that Australians will be keen to make this new product their new number one drop, especially our target audience aged between 18 and 24,” said Gavin Woodroofe, General Manager at Phusion Projects beverage group.

“We’ve done the research and have found the most desirable product for the Australian consumer that Phusion has to offer. We have made our cans 330ml and 7% as opposed to the 440ml at 8.5% that we launched in the UK in 2021.”

To support the drinks group’s first foray into the Australian market, Phusion Projects will be establishing an Australian team in partnership with ex-Billson’s Adam Macpherson and Aaron Scalzo.

“The combination of deep-rooted passion for innovation and well-rounded experience that Adam and Aaron bring aligns perfectly with Phusion and our Four Loko Australia launch,” said Woodrofe.

All three flavours have an abv of 7% and will retail at $29 per 4-pack of 330ml cans.

Campbells unveils Light Dry Red and label refresh

One year ahead of its 155th anniversary, Campbells Wines of Rutherglen has unveiled Light Dry Red, a wine that Chief Winemaker Ian Diver describes as the hot Victorian region’s alternative to Pinot Noir.

“The Rutherglen wine region, including Campbells Wines, is renowned for its heavier reds and fortified wines. But at Campbells we are also blessed with the freedom to be innovative due to having an abundance of red varieties in the ground in our vineyards,” said Diver.

Campbells Light Dry Red 2024 is a blend of Portuguese varietal Tinta Amarella and French varietal Mondeuse, of which were first planted at Campbells in the 1960s for potential use in port production. To create the lighter wine style, Campbells harvested the fruit earlier in the growing season in late February prior to co-fermentation in stainless steel using a low alcohol yeast culture.

Campbells Light Dry Red 2024 has an abv of 11.5% and is available now at an RRP of $25. Additionally, Campbells has also announced new label designs for its Trebianno, Rosé, Amelie, and Shiraz Durif.

Clean Collective launches in Aus

Today, leading New Zealand better-for-you RTD brand Clean Collective has officially launched into the Australian market after seven years of successful operations in its country of origin. To begin with, three flavour options will be made available: Tropical Passionfruit and Mango with Vodka, Pineapple with Vodka, and Pear & Elderflower with Vodka.

“As Kiwis with a business, Australia has always been on our radar as a promising market,” said Holly McGrath, who founded Clean Collective alongside Daniel Benoy when in their early 20s.

“We started the business there about seven years ago… We'd seen this kind of health wave move through grocery, and at the time in the premix space, it was literally options like Vodka Cruiser, KGB, Smirnoff Ice. Everything was really high sugar, full of artificial additives. From a branding and marketing perspective, it was heavily masculine… We found ourselves looking for a product that was zero sugar or just healthier, I guess, and also spoke to me personally as a female.”

Each of the three Clean Collective flavours has an abv of 5%, and is currently available for $20 per 4-pack or $50 per mixed 12-pack (250ml cans).
