Retail Drinks Australia has announced the appointment of Sahil Prasad in the newly created role of Senior Director, Corporate and Government Affairs.
Prasad brings more than 10 years’ experience in policy, advocacy and politics after working in senior roles for national industry bodies, Government departments and various Ministerial offices in NSW.
He also has eight years’ experience in the liquor service and fine dining sector.
Prasad joins Retail Drinks from the Shopping Centre Council of Australia, where he worked in advocacy on behalf of major shopping centre owners, managers and developers. Prior to this, he worked in three Ministerial Offices in the current NSW Government including as a Senior Policy Adviser, Policy Director and Senior Adviser. In these roles, he managed policy development and served as the industry point of contact for the consumer affairs, tourism, trade, justice, planning and environment portfolios.
Retail Drinks CEO Julie Ryan (above) congratulated Prasad on his appointment, noting that his significant expertise in the inner workings of State and Territory governments would be invaluable to Retail Drinks in the execution of its extensive policy and advocacy agenda.
“Following a thorough search and vetting of candidates, we are thrilled to announce Sahil’s appointment and look forward to him joining Retail Drinks’ senior management team later this month," she said.
“Sahil’s previous experience working as an adviser to multiple Ministers in the NSW Government, as well as his intimate knowledge of the current retailing environment, will be an enormous asset to Retail Drinks as we continue to grapple with a vast range of policy issues affecting packaged liquor retailers around Australia.
“Sahil’s appointment further bolsters Retail Drinks’ policy and advocacy credentials and will ensure that the organisation is well-placed to deliver positive legislative and regulatory outcomes for the retail liquor industry."
Sahil Prasad's appointment is effective as of Monday, March 23.
