Next month, the New South Wales Hilltops vignerons will head to Canberra to showcase their highly acclaimed and award-winning wines at Savour Hilltops.

The by-invitation event will target the wine and hospitality trade, including sommeliers, wine retailers and caterers, to reinforce and grow awareness of the Hilltops cool climate wine region, particularly the diversity and calibre of its wines.

Centred around Young NSW, the Hilltops region embraces vineyards located between Young, Harden and Boorowa and sustains over 600 hectares of vines. Its reputation was founded on its impressive expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, however, its burgeoning varietal diversity and the more recent plantings of Italian-origin varieties – Sangiovese, Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Nebbiolo and the rare, Corvina and Rondinella, are drawing focused attention to the region.

Over 25 different grape varieties are grown in its well-drained red granite loam soils and on its elevated slopes, ranging from the classics to alternatives, including Graciano, Fiano, Tempranillo and Viognier.

Wine companies exhibiting and pouring new releases include Hilltops GI-based family companies Ballinaclash, Freeman Vineyards and Grove Estate, as well as Hilltops Associates (wineries that produce wines from Hilltops grapes) Allandale, Collector Wines, Corang Estate, Gundog Estate, Hungerford Hill and Murrumbateman Winery.

Savour Hilltops will be held at the Vibe Hotel, Canberra Airport from 2 – 6 pm on Monday, 1 May 2023. Attendance is by invitation (pre-booked) for members of the wine trade. Partners for the event include NSW Wine, Hilltops Council and Plumm glassware.
