Shottesbrooke Vineyards has been awarded ‘Best Producer ‐ Australia’ at the Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards in Germany.
Additionally, Shottesbrooke has ‐ for a second time ‐ taken out the award for ‘Best of Show, Australian Red’. Previously awarded for its Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, this time a wine from its flagship range, the 2018 Reserve Series ‘Punch’ Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the top prize.
The Mundus Vini competition, held in Germany, is one of the most high‐profile wine competitions in the world. More than 11,000 wines are submitted each year and are judged in multiple blind tasting rounds by a highly qualified international jury comprising 120 oenologists, winemakers, professional wine traders, sommeliers and expert journalists that each have excellent reputations in their fields.
Sourced from Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in the 1960s on the Shottesbrooke estate property, the Reserve Series ‘Punch’ Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from hand selected parcels of fruit and aged in high quality French oak barrels, with the achievement of varietal expression and regional character being the focus.
The winemaker took out a further six gold medals at the highly respected competition. They were:
GOLD ‐ Shottesbrooke Reserve Series ‘Punch’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
