Sofi has created an exclusive signature spritz cocktail for Australia’s national carrier, set for take-off onboard Qantas international flights.
The Sky Spritz is an ode to Australian native botanicals, featuring Davidson Plum and Finger Lime, both of which hail from the subtropical rainforests of Queensland.
Sofi first started working with QANTAS in 2017, originally providing cocktails in its airport lounges. This special recipe has been under development for over a year now, with Sofi calling on the expertise of fifth generation winemaker Simon Gilbert from Mudgee.
Tommy Maclean, creator of Sofi said, “Working with an iconic Australian brand like QANTAS motivated us to encapsulate some of the unique flavours of our country and of course, we wanted everything to be locally sourced and all-natural as always. We are excited to share this refreshing taste of Australia with international travellers before they touch down.”
In terms of the look, “The QANTAS x Sofi Sky Spritz can design was inspired by retro plane tickets – a nod to the rich history of the Flying Kangaroo,” according to Matthew Squadrito, head of Sydney-based design agency, Squad Ink.
The subtle sweetness of Davidson plum is perfectly balanced by the unique bitter-crisp taste of finger lime, with an earthy aroma, reminiscent of rosella jam and stewed rhubarb with just a touch of sweetness. Finger limes bring a minty, citrus-forward aroma with a tangy, sweet, and slightly floral flavour. The Davidson plum is also known as rainforest plum, while the finger lime is referred to as rainforest pearl.
The Sofi Sky Spritz canned cocktails are being served up in skies across the world now.
