Southern Independent Liquor has announced that SIL Storage, a third party logistics (3PL) business for liquor and general goods, is now up and running.

Operating out of the company’s 7,600m² warehouse in Dandenong South, the new venture aims to provide affordable bonded storage, distribution and logistics services throughout the Melbourne metropolitan region.

Southern Independent Liquor, formerly a wide-range liquor wholesaler and marketing group, explains the change in direction for SIL follows an asset sale agreement with Metcash subsidiary Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM) in March.

SIL Storage Director David Stephenson says the move into 3PL is a natural progression for the business, which formally closed trading as Southern Independent Liquor late this May.

“As a former wide-range wholesaler servicing the iconic Duncan’s and OZ Liquor banner groups and many independent retailers across Australia, we have over 13 years’ experience in handling more than 1.6 million cases per year.

“We have already established a solid customer base through our strong industry network and encourage others to come on board and take advantage of our competitive rates and personalised service”.

On the new range of services and facilities, Stephenson continues:

“We are putting our logistics expertise and bonded warehouse space to good use by offering a premium 3PL service for liquor and general goods including short and long-term storage, stock management and next-day delivery. While we specialise in the storage and distribution of liquor, our service extends to a wide range of grocery items and general goods as well.

“With a full customs bond licence, we are able to provide storage solutions for imported goods and also offer a liquor locker arrangement – ideal for commercial wine storage and private wine collections.
