Stone & Wood has announced a new collaborative beer in partnership with Crystalbrook Byron. To kickstart the launch, the Lion-owned beer brand and local five star hotel are conducting a ‘name the beer’ contest, with the winner to receive an all-inclusive two night stay in a Treetops Luxe Suite along with a Stone & Wood supply pack.
According to a statement issued to media, the beer that entrants are being asked to name is crafted using sustainable grains, local finger lime, and Lilli Pilli, and captures the fresh essence of Byron Bay with a slightly fruity, tart, and cinnamon-spiced flavour profile.
“We’re excited to partner with Stone & Wood on this special beer that truly embodies the spirit of our local community,” said Pascale Rocher, Area Director of Marketing at Crystalbrook Byron.
“This contest is a fun way to engage our community and celebrate the unique flavours of our region.”
Stone & Wood has also revealed that a portion of the beer’s sales will be donated to Ingrained Foundation, a not-for-profit grassroots funding platform championed by the brewery. The decision to partner with Crystalbrook Byron, which has attained a silver-level EarthCheck certification, recognises the brewery’s sustainability agenda.
The contest activation follows on from reports of continued growth for the already established craft beer brand, which was voted by consumers as the Fan Favourite Craft Beer at the 2024 Australian Drinks Awards. In a recent interview, Lion Australia’s Sales Director Lion Australia’s Sales Director Kerry Appathurai told Drinks Trade that “brands like Hahn and also Stone and Wood that continue to drive recruitment, recently launched into 10 packs in the independent market and have been very successful in meeting new occasion needs.
“Understanding the importance of premiumisation in the category is also key, and we continue to receive great feedback from customers and consumers on the availability of Stone & Wood in both the on and off premise and in particular the performance of its Pacific Ale in driving sales for our partners,” she continued.
In March, Stone & Wood also added Hinterland Hazy to its core range due to popular demand after initially only releasing it as part of its limited-edition All Australian Hops series.
