In Sydney this week, Bacardi launched Bombay Citron Pressé - the latest Bombay Sapphire expression destined to be a summer favourite in bars and at homes this summer.
Taking its flavour inspiration from the Tom Collins, Bombay Citron Pressé captures the taste of freshly squeezed Mediterranean lemons that are harvested and then used to craft the gin, balanced with the vibrant juniper notes of the brand’s signature vapour-infused London Dry Gin.
Bacardi says that the latest expression is in response to the current consumer appetite to explore and experiment with new flavours when making cocktails at home, noting that there has been a growing popularity for flavours within the citrus space. With its bright, zesty lemon flavour and made with no added sugar, Bacardi says that Bombay Citron Pressé sets to redefine the flavoured gin category, elevating simple cocktails and inspiring creative twists.
Bombay Sapphire Brand Ambassador, Corina Retter (pictured above) was at the product launch at Smoke Bar Rooftop in Barangaroo along with the Bacardi team and a party of cocktail lovers.
She said, “With summer right around the corner I’m so excited for people to discover the zesty taste of Bombay Citron Pressé. I love using Bombay Citron Pressé in a simple but delicious twist on a G&T – its bright refreshing and perfect for summer entertaining. For something extra special, you could try a Southside Fizz, a sophisticated twist on a classic cocktail made using lime juice, mint and topped with champagne. Easy to make it’s a cocktail that elevates any occasion finishing with a delicate citrus flavour profile.”
Dr Anne Brock, Bombay Sapphire Master Distiller explains, “When creating Bombay Citron Pressé, it was vital that only the finest ingredients were used and a distinct production process to create the highest quality product. The Mediterranean lemons are harvested at their perfect ripeness and truly showcase the very best flavours that nature has to offer. By harvesting them early in the season, their lively citrus notes shine through in the gin, delivering a vibrant, sophisticated taste.”
With its natural colour and taste, Bombay Citron Pressé is easy to mix and the perfect canvas for bartenders and gin fans alike to celebrate their cocktail creativity. Wonderfully bright and fragrant lemon is underpinned by the classic notes of the brand’s vapour infused gin, providing a natural sweetness and a brilliant base for a host of cocktails. Ideally served long, over ice, with tonic and a squeeze of lemon, Bombay Citron Pressé also shines in many other gin-based drinks like a simple and light Pressé & Soda, or an Ultimate Tom Collins, bursting with fresh lemon juice.
The zesty gin also works beautifully in more complex cocktails such as an irresistibly refreshing White Lady, a silky sophisticated classic with an appealing sour finish, or a Southside Fizz which uses champagne to create a more elevated cocktail - both perfect for those special, celebratory occasions.
Complementing the launch of Bombay Citron Pressé, comes a delicious new bar-quality canned cocktail; the Bombay Citrus Collins, allowing gin fans to enjoy the new flavoured gin expression wherever they are. Perfect for at home entertaining or outdoor celebrations, the Citrus Collins RTD is a bright, vibrant cocktail featuring a blend of 100% natural Mediterranean lemons with the brand’s London Dry Gin, mixed with premium soda water. It is best enjoyed over ice with a squeeze of lemon.
Bacardi is also releasing the RTD at the same time: the Bombay Citrus Collins for cocktails on the go.
