Swift + Moore have added Ian Macleod Distillers to its portfolio of wine and spirit brands. The distributors will handle Australian roll out of IMD's: four spirits, Edinburgh Gin, Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Smokehead, to on premise and key whisky specialists.
“We could not be prouder to distribute Ian Macleod Distillers’ whiskies and gins in Australia. The four spirits, each with its own personality and striking appeal, make an impactful addition to the range that we offer. We have no doubt that they will draw a crowd of Australian whisky and gin drinkers - some curious, some knowledgeable, and all rewarded when they purchase,” said Michael McShane, CEO of Swift + Moore.
Glengoyne
The Ian Macleod portfolio includes Glengoyne which has been in production since 1833. Its unique flavour comes from its ultra-slow distillation process and the fact that no peat is used in the barley drying process, allowing the subtle, complex flavours of slow distillation and wood to shine through. Glengoyne’s natural colour also comes from time and wood alone. Last year, the 178-year-old whisky moved to 100 per cent ramped up its sustainable production so that all packaging is now recycled and locally sourced.
Katy Muggeridge, senior brand manager for Glengoyne, commented, “Glengoyne has always
chosen to take its time to do things the right way - for every minute other whiskies spend in their stills, ours spends three, all in the name of outstanding fruity flavour. This is the Glengoyne way and it’s why the same appreciation of time has gone into this rebrand. As one of Scotland’s greenest distilleries, it was extremely important to us that our commitment to sustainability was reflected in the new packaging, as well as giving us a platform to better connect our customers to the unique processes and people behind our award-winning whisky.”
Smokehead
Smokehead is an Islay single malt whisky and is proud to say that it’s not for everyone.
"It’s an assault on your senses, a wonderful, surprising assault,” says Beverages, “It’s a bold award- winning whisky that’s very much out of the ordinary. It defies the rules of normal whisky. For the thrill-seeker, there’s also Smokehead High Voltage, which is louder, bolder and more intense, and Smokehead Sherry Bomb, which boasts that it’s ‘more explosive than an armada cannonball’ by being stored in spicy Oloroso sherry casks.”
Ian Macleod Distillers is one of the most highly respected Scottish independent family firms in
the spirits industry, now in its third generation.
Founded by Leonard J Russell Snr, a staunch believer in the importance of independence. He rejected the easy path of aligning himself with a single distiller and bought only those whiskies which met his own
exacting standards. Those standards have helped the company to become the tenth largest Scotch whisky company in the world, producing and selling over 15 million bottles of spirits every year.
Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
In 1898, Tamdhu’s founders secured their first precious shipment of sherry casks from the finest bodegas in Spain. Now over 100 years later, Tamdhu matures its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks.
"It's one of the hardest and most expensive ways to mature whisky, not to mention it limits the amount of precious spirit they can produce. So why do they do it that way? They do it this way because they believe it's the only way to create the very best single malt whisky," say Swift + Moore.
Swift + Moore's stock has already sold out so will be available in April 2022.
