Sydney Whisky Week is in full swing leading up to World Whisky Day on Saturday.

The event is curated by The Whisky List who heeded the calls from its on-premise friends to bring people back into the CBD and back to their bars.

The Sydney Whisky Show takes place in the CBD this weekend and with 750 whisky lovers expected attend, it made a lot of sense to extend the whisky love so that once the tastings are done, guests can weave their way on to some of Sydney's excellent whisky dens.

Chris Ross, Co-Founder of The Whisky List explained: "Many of us discovered and grew our love of whisky by visiting bars and distilleries. After the intense year everyone's had with restrictions, we figured rather than just celebrate World Whisky Day on May 15, we create a whole week dedicated to whisky and get all our favourite bars and venues involved. Sydney has some of the best whisky bars in the world...

"Each bar is running their own events, tastings, masterclasses, dinners and more - we've helped secure a great sponsor BenRiach to help tempt people to return to visiting bars with a free pour of whisky too, it's a win win! We hope whisky lovers take advantage of this offer, and enjoy some whisky in our favourite bars."

Sixteen Sydney bars are participating in the event with Archie Rose Distillery and Manly Spirits running whisky themed masterclasses. The event is being supported by the City of Sydney and sponsored by Brown-Forman's Scotch Whisky brand BenRiach.

Participating venues include:

The Roosevelt, Archie Rose, Bancho, Bel & Brio, Nola, Grain, Doss House, Shirt Bar, Kittyhawk, Highlander, Door Knock, Manly Spirits, The Captain's Balcony and The Baxter Inn.

Select venues have partnered with SWW whisky sponsor BenRiach to offer a free glass of BenRiach 10 year old Scotch Whisky when customers check into a bar by downloading The Whisky List app - participating offer venues listed on SWW website.
