Angelica Nohra from The Blue Door, Surry Hills was awarded the 2022 NSW Sommelier’s Wine List of the Year in Sydney last night.

Ms Nohra co-founded The Blue Door Surry Hills which is headed up by chef Dylan Cashman (pictured above with Ms Nohra). The menu is sustainably sourced, the wine listis almost completely made up of wines from NSW and the restaurant accommodates just twenty-four guests.

Ms Nohra received her award along with seven other winners at Parliament House Sydney on Tuesday evening. The winners were:

  • 2022 NSW Wine President’s Award for Outstanding Support of the NSW Wine Industry: Kylie Byron from Whitney’s at The Remington, Orange
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Regional NSW venue (Under 40 seats): Renee Wallace from Birch Restaurant, Moss Vale
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Regional NSW venue (More than 40 seats): David Collins from Charred Kitchen & Bar, Orange for a wine list described as “an ambassador for NSW wines”.
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Regional NSW accommodation venue: Andres Aragon from Blaq at The Kyah Hotel, Blackheath.
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Sydney venue ( Under 40 seats): Angelica Nohra from The Blue Door, Surry Hills. Ms Nohra's list wins automatic entry into the 2022 Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Sydney venue (more than 40 seats): William Wilson from ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour. Other finalists included: bibo wine bar, Botswana Butchery, Public Dining Room and Quay.
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Sydney accommodation venue: Samantha Belt from QT Hotel Sydney
  • 2022 Best NSW Wine List in a Club venue: Matt Underwood from The Newcastle Club, Newcastle. A brand new category this year to recognise and reward the Club venues out there that provide quality hospitality and support their local winemakers and producers. NSW Wine also made notable mentions of: The Bowral Bowling Club, Tattersalls Club Sydney and Singletons Diggers.
