Taylors has gone back to its pub roots to give its Hotelier range a fresh new look, developed exclusively for the independent retail channel.
Patriarch Bill Taylor Snr’s love for Australian wine came from his time working behind the bar as a hotelier. In fact, before they were winemakers, the Taylor family were publicans, well-known in Sydney and greater New South Wales for its network of premium pubs and hotels.
While the family no longer owns any venues, their love for the experience of a pub meal matched with a beautiful wine is highlighted in the newly-refreshed packaging for The Hotelier range.
“It was hard to miss the growing excitement for Australian wines in the pub scene back in the 50s and 60s. The thirst for quality, locally-made wines paired with pub fare was an opportunity my grandfather and father noticed first-hand in the pubs. This is where their passion for wine was born and the main reason our family winery was founded,” Winemaker & Managing Director Mitchell Taylor said.
“The Hotelier range is a tribute to our love of good old Aussie hospitality and the experience of bringing close friends and family together for a delicious meal. The wines offer quality and versatility for a range of meals and occasions, and we are excited to see the new look making its way to independent bottle shop shelves.”
Designed by wine packaging specialists Denomination, the new look is a departure from the original black and gold foil label of The Hotelier with a bright, light, hand-sketched-based design. Each label features a bartender surrounded by hand-drawn images of classic pub fare, with each variety distinctly different with unique drawings and colour selection.
In addition to the new look, Taylors will introduce a Wrattonbully Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre blend and a Padthaway Chardonnay to the range, joining the original Padthaway Pinot Gris and Shiraz varieties.
“GSM blends have quickly grown in popularity and interest in the independent and on-premise space, particularly as drinkers tend to trial these wines through by-the-glass options in the on-trade. This is a bright, juicy red blend with dark berry characters and a touch of cinnamon spice on the palate. It will make a wonderful addition to the rest of The Hotelier range,” Taylor said.
“The attractive stone fruit and toasted cashew notes of the new Hotelier Chardonnay make a welcome addition to any pub wine list. The Mediterranean climate and coastal breezes of the Padthaway region heavily influence the medium-bodied wine - it's supple and silky with a lingering finish.”
The new look Hotelier range is beginning to make its way to independent bottle shop shelves now. The RRP for the range is $18. Trade customers should enquire with their Taylors Sales Representative for trade pricing and offers.
