Janz Tasmania has announced the appointment of Teresa Heuzenroeder as its new Senior Sparkling Winemaker.

Heuzenroeder will step into the role with more than 20 years of sparkling winemaking experience. This includes her last two years as Senior Sparkling Winemaker at Endeavour Group’s Paragon Estates, prior to which she worked a 1.5 year stint as Senior Winemaker and Manager at Accolade Wine’s Tintara Winery.

Before starting at Accolade, Teresa Heuzenroeder spent just under 27 years at the Yalumba Wine Company, which was renamed Hill-Smith Family Estates in 2022. This included 13 years as Senior White and Sparkling Winemaker.

Reflecting on her appointment, Heuzenroeder says “it feels like coming home.

“Jansz Tasmania is an iconic name in Australian sparkling wine, celebrated for its exceptional quality and dedication to tradition,” she continued.

“I’m thrilled to work with Tasmania’s outstanding vineyards to take Jansz Tasmania to new heights, particularly as we plan celebrations for the 40th anniversary in 2026.”

Proprietor Robert Hill-Smith added, “we could not be happier to welcome Teresa back to the family fold … She has an exceptional palate and flair for Chardonnay and sparkling wine, making her the perfect custodian to carry forward the legacy of Jansz Tasmania.”

The appointment of Teresa Heuzenroeder comes just in time for the 2025 vintage and will hope to build on Jansz Tasmania’s history of crafting wines that capture the various and unique terroirs of Tasmania.

Since being established in 1986, the sparkling wine brand has sought to embody and reflect the natural Tasmanian environment it calls home across the entirety of its portfolio, which include value offerings such as Premium Cuvée NV and Premium Rosé NV priced at $33 per bottle; vintage offerings such as the $54 Vintage Cuvée 2020 and $57 Vintage Rosé 2019; and more exclusive vintage offerings such as the Single Vineyard Vintage Chardonnay 2019 and the Late Disgorged Vintage Cuvée 2015.
