Six twinsets of Benriach remain on sale on BlockBar as non-fungible tokens (NFT) in what Benriach says will be the only time the limited edition expressions are available as a bespoke twinset. Four of the sets sold on the first day for AUD$12,800.
Benriach The Forty and one Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured are each expressions that speak to the heritage of eclectic cask exploration and spirit styles at the distillery.
Rachel Barrie, Master Blender for Benriach, and one of the world's most lauded distillers said:
“It is an exceptional opportunity to craft such rare whisky of this age, to express the exquisite nature of Benriach at its peak. At forty years old, Benriach has developed a seamlessly silken fruit and oak complexity, finessed by the fresh Speyside air and enriched by the alluring aromatics of cask maturation age, which I can only describe as the ultimate Speyside delicacy.”
Benriach The Forty, is one of the oldest ever peated whiskies released from Speyside. The second, Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured, celebrates classic Speyside whisky style, ingeniously matured in small octave casks (of around 50 litres: an eight of a whole butt).
Along with the digital NFT providing the right to acquire both bottles, and a certificate of authenticity from BlockBar, NFT owners of record as of December 2, 2022 7:00 AM AEST, will receive an invitation for an exclusive event at Benriach’s Speyside distillery.
The twinsets feature bespoke customisation on the packaging and are to be securely stored by BlockBar until redeemed. Buyers can also trade their NFT within the blockbar.com marketplace, store it in their virtual bar, or gift it through BlockBar’s new gifting platform.
Initially priced at AUD$12800 (USD$8000), each NFT is available to purchase with ETH or credit card.
