To celebrate World Tequila Day, Naomi Kaplan reveals the musical legends, models and TV stars who've started their own Tequila brands on the side.

When you look at the array of stars who've invested in tequila it seems they all thought to themselves "Instead of being someone else’s Tequila brand ambassador, why not just create my own?"

1. Justin Timberlake's Sauza 901

He's famous for singing Cry Me a River and Justin's gone and made a river’s worth of Tequila with this sub brand from Suaza - Sauza 901.

2. AC/DC’s Thunderstruck Tequila

This is rock legend AC/DC's latest venture into the beverage industry - the band has already created its own beer and wine in recent years, as well as an energy drink called High Voltage.

3. George Clooney's Casamigos Tequila 

George Clooney and Rande Gerber’s Casamigos was worth a LOT - $1billion to be precise, with Diageo shelling out for the brand just last month. Clooney and Gerber will still be involved though, with nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram, the duo have been successfully selling their high-life status as an ‘obtainable’ lifestyle (if you drink Casamigos, of course), while accumulating many other celebrity acquaintances as ambassadors for the popular brand.

4. Jennifer Hawkins Sesión Tequila

Aussie hubby and wife power couple Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall created their own Tequila brand back in 2015 after an inspirational holiday where they fell in love with the many flavours and textures tequila offers. Moreover, the two certainly know how to market themselves with a 'happy', 'sexy', 'free', lifestyle associated with Sesion, as presented on Instagram. Check it out here @sesiontequila

 
5. Mario Lopez's Casa México Tequila
 
Casamigos? No, Casa Mexico. US TV host and actor partnered with the brand a few years ago, bringing his dreamy smile to Casa Mexico Tequila.

6. Adam Levine and Sammy Hagar's Santo Mezquila

Adam Levine, lead singer in pop band Maroon 5, and rock legend Sammy Hagar started up their own tequila brand recently…but with only 1401 followers on Instagram, the men may need to up their game a little, or stick to music.

7. Carlos Santana's Casa Noble Tequila

Renowned Rock and Roll American-Mexican musician decided to take a break from strumming his guitar and partner with Casa Noble Tequila.

8. Bethenny Frankel's Skinnygirl Margaritas

Bethenny Frankel, reality TV personality and author, found the perfect solution to clocking up too many calories on a boozy night out: a ‘skinny girl’ pre-made margarita with only one hundred calories per serve (compared to 350-750 per average margarita).
