A Dewar's Scotch Egg Club held in Sydney’s CBD two months ago was such a huge success that it's back again this month!

The pop-up offered the chance to taste Dewar’s 12 while nibbling on scotch eggs whipped up by Mitch Orr, head chef at the award winning ACME restaurant in Sydney.

In case you have no idea what a Scotch egg is: it’s is a traditional delicacy from the UK whereby a boiled egg is wrapped in meat, coated in bread crumbs and then deep fried - yum!

Dewar’s ambassador Andy Wren said: “This was the first time the southern hemisphere had experienced Dewar’s Scotch Egg Club and boy did they enjoy it. Sydney ate over 600 kilograms of scotch eggs, enjoyed thousands of whisky cocktails and over 400 people took part in intimate whisky masterclasses, discovering just why Dewar’s is the most awarded blended scotch whisky in the world.”

“Due to the overwhelming response from the public, we couldn’t leave everyone high and dry, which is why we are bringing back the Scotch Egg Club! Over July, there will be two residencies across Sydney, ensuring more people can enjoy this unique experience.”

The Dewar’s Scotch Egg Club will be at the following locations in Sydney:

Websters Bar – 323 King St, Newtown
Date: July 3-31

Crooked Tailor, 250 Old Northern Rd, Castle Hill
Date: July 10-31

A quirky story about Dewar whisky

So, what’s the deal with whisky and eggs, you may ask yourself? Well, Tommy Dewar, the founder of Dewar’s whisky, was known for his two obsessions; whisky and chickens. While producing one of the finest whisky’s the world has seen, Tommy bred pedigree chickens that produced some mighty fine eggs too.

Tommy was known for bringing his Whisky around the world, introducing Scotch to America post-prohibition and came to Australia twice to wax lyrical about his award-winning whisky.
